The start of FP 11 just to the west of Folly Arch FP 11 makes its way across the first field The gate between the first two fields After crossing the bridge it is hard to see where the official path goes, whereas the unofficial path appears to be the correct route Heading down to Gobions along the unofficial path Clear evidence that wire fencing, introduced to prevent animals straying, has been peeled back Back to the official route and the way ahead on FP 11 is not clear. Struggling to find the official route, and fearing damaing crops, the best way is to aim for the small bushes on the far side of the field. Between the bushes is the exit from the second field to the third The gate for continuing along footpath 11 has grass growing up it. It appears to be little-used Emerging from the second field and there are no clear signs as to the direction of FP 11 Aim for a manhole sticking up through the crops and keep to its left heading for a small 'V' in the treeline ahead. There you will find a gate which leads back into Gobions Woodland Close up of the official gate into Gobions Woodland On entering Gobions Woodland, turn left across a small bridge This leads to a part of Gobions Woodland called the Little Rye Plantation Follow the path through the plantation. Continue heading along but watch out for a path that leads off to your left This path leads to a gate into a field, usually occupied by horses The gate where footpath 11 leaves Gobions Woodland Entering Gobions Woodland again on the other side of the field Turn left and continue along this path until you pass a bungalow on the left Continue walking with the river bed on your right Exit onto Bluebridge Road. Footpath 11 continues across the other side of the road and heads for Warrengate Road.

All proceeds will go towards much needed improvements to outdoor facilities with new wildlife teaching areas and play equipment. Its white pillars were imitation, made of wood not stone, and hollow. Potterells was once one of the great manors of North Mymms. The origins of this ‘unusual country house’ are thought to date back to the 15th century. Over 300 years it become home to many wealthy and influential families, including the Conningsbys and Casamajors. During World War II some of its outbuildings were used to make small arms, and in 1965 it was sold and left empty, gradually becoming derelict. The last pictures of Potterells, taken in the early 80s, are of a ruin shortly before it crumbled into a heap of rubble.
